Father Joseph Osunde, OP, from Good Shepherd Parish in Saco, will be speaking at Masses in St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish the weekend of August 10th and 11th. Father Joseph is a member of the Dominican Fathers & Brothers from the Province of Nigeria and will be speaking about the order's missionary efforts.
The Dominicans in Africa are currently serving in some 25 countries. The Dominican Province of Nigeria and Ghana is the largest on the African continent. They are engaged in a variety of ministries. Their efforts are very much concentrated in the areas of basic formation and training for the priesthood and religious life and primary evangelization in rural parts of Africa.
The order also focuses on on-going Christian formation in the faith through parish ministries, ministry among Muslims, social justice ministries, health care delivery, chaplaincies and education ministries at all levels.
The Dominican order is committed to bringing Christ in a relevant way to all the people they serve. In his presentation, Father Joseph will describe these ministries. The Order appreciates the support and encouragement of St. Kateri Tekakwitha parishioners and is looking forward to a successful appeal.
