Faith Formation students from St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish began to prepare for Lent Sunday, February 8, 2026 at a session led by Faith Formation Director Arianna Ranalli. 

Arianna talked to the students about three of the ways that Christians participate in Lent:  prayer, fasting and almsgiving. She told the group that they could try and do at least one of these things each day during Lent and gave them a sheet on which they could track their progress.


The students then went to work making mosaic crosses they could hang on their windows during Lent, to remind them to do one or more of the Lenten activities. Students busied themselves adding glue to wax paper and applying purple and white crepe paper, before adding the outline of a cross which they could cut out, then display.

Arianna explained that just as Advent is a time of preparation for Christmas, so is Lent a time to prepare for Easter. Lent begins this year on Ash Wednesday, February 18th and Easter falls on Sunday April 5th. Details on opportunities for Lenten events in the parish can be found at: Lent 2026
