On Sunday December 7, 2025, Faith Formation students from Saint James in Baileyville visited the Woodland Community Food Pantry to deliver the food donations they had been collecting during November.
Tonya Scott, Director of the pantry, warmly welcomed the group and talked to the students about the work the pantry does to serve families across Washington County.
The students also were able to help perform a variety of tasks. They checked expiration dates on cans and helped stock the pantry shelves.
Baileyville Faith Formation Coordinator Mary White indicated that the visit was a perfect way to connect with the parable "Lord, When Did We See You Hungry?" She said it was a reminder of the importance of charity, especially during the holiday season. She said serving others is a way of serving Jesus—an experience that serves to deepen the students' understanding of giving and compassion.
Tonya Scott praised the students and told them that "because of you, people who have fallen on hard times have a place to go for free food." Mary White indicated that at the end of their visit, the class prayed that the shelves on the food pantries will never be empty.
