Parishioners of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish participated in a Rosary Rally after Mass on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Sponsored by the Maine Needs Fatima organization, the rally took place in the grassy area of Calais Avenue, just in front of Immaculate Conception church, where volunteers from the church had helped to assemble tents and chairs for the participants.
Four volunteers carried the statue of the Blessed Mother from the church, down the avenue to Winter Street and up the avenue to Washington Street and back to the tents which had been set up for the rally. Parishioners processed behind the cross, the altar servers, Father Roland and the statue as the hymns Salve Regina and Here I Am, Lord, played from the speakers the organizers had brought.
The group prayed the five Glorious mysteries of the rosary – the Resurrection, the Ascension, the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Assumption of Mary and the Coronation of Mary – led by volunteers from the parish. The group also prayed the Angelus, a litany to Mary, a prayer of consecration to Mary and the Divine Praises, as well as a prayer to St. Kateri Tekakwitha, patroness of our parish. The group also sang O, Sanctissima to pre-recorded music.
At the end of the rally, organizers drew numbers to award several prizes, including a wooden cross, electric candle and rosaries. Parishioners gathered in the church hall for light refreshments, provided by more volunteers, after the rally.
